The 2010 tournament was a resounding success. Players from Serbia, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, U. K, France, Malaysia and many other countries added international flavour, in addition to the top Indian talent.
The final was won by Bojana Jovanoski who prevailed over Nina Bratchikova.
About 2,000 spectators watched the final which was also witnessed live on National T. V.
The organization of the tournament was done by Tennis players – every care was taken to make the tournament player friendly. Initiatives that were on view for the first time were –
1) Courtesy cars for players transport from hotel to venue.
2) An exclusive player’s lounge with specially prepared snacks / fruits / juices.
3) Tie up with a reputed spa for player’s relaxation.
4) “Players Assist Cell” that provided for any help the players wanted.
5) Special press coverage of individual players.
6) Free Practice – with no pre-booking of courts.
The 2011 tournament is expected to scale new heights. Plans are afoot to conduct matches in the evening. The cool ambient temperature will bring out the best Tennis. Additional facilities are to be introduced for the benefit of the players. This will get finalized soon.
